Courthouse Serving Eagle River
Eagle River is a community located about 12 miles northeast of downtown Anchorage. It is part of Anchorage Municipality, the unified city-borough government that covers a large area of southcentral Alaska. Because Eagle River has no separate court of its own, all criminal cases originating in Eagle River are filed and heard at the Nesbett Courthouse in downtown Anchorage. The address is 825 West 4th Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99501. The main phone number is (907) 264-0514.
The Nesbett Courthouse houses both the Anchorage Superior Court and the Anchorage District Court. District Court handles misdemeanor charges, DUI cases, and lower-level offenses. Superior Court takes on felony charges, serious violent crimes, and complex criminal cases. Both courts serve Eagle River through the same clerk's office at this location.
The clerk's office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. It closes Wednesday mornings from 8:00 to 9:00 AM for staff meetings. For domestic violence matters, extended hours apply: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Saturday and Sunday noon to 8:00 PM. How to Request Eagle River Court Records
To get physical copies of documents from an Eagle River criminal case, contact the Anchorage clerk's office. Submit written requests by fax to (907) 264-0873 or email to 3ANRecordsRequest@akcourts.us. Out-of-area requests can also go to recordsfax@akcourts.us. Use Form TF-311 ANCH for all written requests. Include the case number, the party name, and a clear description of what you need. Incomplete forms will delay processing.
In-person requests at the Nesbett Courthouse require a valid photo ID. If you do not have a case number, a name search can be done by staff for a research fee of $30 per hour. Standard requests take five to seven business days. Complex or large requests may take longer. The court does not provide transcription services, but audio recordings of hearings can be ordered through the clerk's office.
Plain copies are $5 for the first document and $3 for each additional one. Certified copies are $10 for the first and $3 for each additional. Certified copies include a statement confirming the copy is a true and accurate reproduction of the original filed document. Payment can be made in person by cash, check, or money order. Remote requests should include a check made payable to Alaska Court System.
What Eagle River Criminal Records Are Available
Criminal records from Eagle River cases are public under AS 40.25.110, the Alaska Public Records Act, and Alaska Court Rule 37. You can access case files, charge documents, sentencing orders, probation conditions, filed motions, and final judgments for both misdemeanor and felony cases.
Records that are not public include juvenile criminal cases, files sealed by court order, and portions of records with sensitive victim or witness information. Under AS 12.62.160, criminal justice information held by courts and law enforcement agencies follows specific disclosure rules that differ from the general public records law.
Expunged records no longer appear in CourtView or standard request results. Alaska expungement applies to arrests not followed by charges, dismissed cases, acquittals in certain situations, and some diversion program completions. If you believe a record should have been expunged, contact the clerk's office or consult a lawyer.
Eagle River, while its own distinct community, does not have a separate court identity. All records are filed under the Anchorage court designation. When searching CourtView for Eagle River cases, search by the individual's name rather than by location, as the system does not filter by community within the municipality.
Legal Framework for Eagle River Criminal Records
Eagle River is part of Anchorage Municipality and falls under the Third Judicial District. The Alaska Public Records Act at AS 40.25.110 governs public access to court records. Alaska Court Rule 37 and Rule 37.5 define which documents filed with the courts are publicly accessible by default.
Because Eagle River is within the municipality, it shares all the same rules and procedures as Anchorage proper. There is no separate fee schedule or process.
