How to Request Anchorage Court Records
To get a copy of a specific document from an Anchorage criminal case, you have several options. If you know the case number, you can submit your request by fax to (907) 264-0873 or by email to 3ANRecordsRequest@akcourts.us. For requests from outside Anchorage, use recordsfax@akcourts.us. All requests should be made on Form TF-311 ANCH, the official records request form for Anchorage courts. That form must be filled out completely; incomplete submissions will slow processing.
In-person requests require a valid photo ID. If you do not have a case number, the clerk's office will do a name search for you, but there is a research fee of $30 per hour for that service. Typical processing time for a standard records request is five to seven business days. Large requests or those requiring more research can take longer. The court does not provide transcript services. Audio recordings of hearings can be obtained directly from the clerk's office during business hours.
Copy fees are as follows: plain copies cost $5 for the first document and $3 for each additional document. Certified copies are $10 for the first document and $3 for each additional one. Certification confirms that the copy is a true and accurate reproduction of the original filed document. Search warrant records require Form CR-714 and have their own request process.

Anchorage Criminal Records: What Is Available
Most criminal case records at the Anchorage courts are public under AS 40.25.110, the Alaska Public Records Act, and Alaska Court Rule 37. Available records include case files, charge information, sentencing orders, motions, hearing transcripts (via audio recording), and final judgments. You can get these for both misdemeanor cases at the District Court level and felony cases handled by the Superior Court.
Some records are not publicly available. Juvenile criminal cases are sealed and not accessible through standard channels. Records sealed by court order are restricted regardless of case type. Certain domestic violence proceedings may have limited access. The court may also restrict access to parts of a file that contain sensitive personal information about witnesses or victims under state law. Under AS 12.62.160, criminal justice information held by law enforcement and court agencies has specific rules about disclosure, which differs from general public records access.
For cases that resulted in expungement under AS 12.62.180, the record may no longer appear in CourtView or be accessible through standard request channels. Expungement in Alaska applies to arrests not followed by charges, dismissed cases, and acquittals in certain circumstances. Successful completion of a diversion program may also qualify.

Anchorage Criminal Court Law and Statutes
Criminal proceedings in Anchorage Municipality operate under state law. The Alaska Public Records Act at AS 40.25.110 sets the baseline for public access to government-held records, including court records. Alongside that, Alaska Court Rule 37 and Rule 37.5 govern access to records filed with the Alaska Court System, establishing that most filed documents are public unless a specific rule or order restricts them.
Sentencing statutes shape what appears in criminal records. Under AS 12.55.085, probation orders are part of the court record and include the conditions imposed. These can include things like substance abuse treatment, no-contact orders, or supervision requirements. All of this appears in the case docket and is accessible to the public unless the record is sealed.
Alaska's court system also maintains records relevant to liquor license violations. Under AS 04.21.078, certain violations tied to alcohol-related businesses create a criminal record that is part of the court file. These cases appear in CourtView like other criminal cases.
For a broader overview of your rights when accessing Alaska court and government records, the Reporter's Committee for Freedom of the Press at rcfp.org maintains a comprehensive state-by-state guide. The Alaska Legislature's full statute database is at akleg.gov, where you can read the full text of any statute referenced here.
Note: If you believe your records request was wrongly denied, you can appeal the denial through the court system or contact the Office of the Attorney General for guidance under the Alaska Public Records Act.
